A hernia does not go away on its own and can slowly grow. Small hernias without symptoms are sometimes watched, and the doctor advises when repair is right for you. A hernia that becomes painful, hard or cannot be pushed back needs urgent medical care.
It is surgery done through a few small cuts using a camera and fine instruments. Compared with open surgery it often means smaller scars and a shorter hospital stay, but whether it suits you depends on your condition.
The operation is still done by the surgeon, who controls robotic instruments from a console with a magnified 3D view. It is used for selected operations, and the doctor will explain if it is an option for you.
Stones that cause no symptoms often need no surgery. If they cause pain attacks or other problems, removing the gallbladder is the usual treatment, and people can live normally without it.
Many early piles improve with more fibre and water, not straining, and medicines. Laser or surgical treatment is considered for larger piles or when symptoms continue.
